When it comes to noughties rap, there are few more legendary names than Lil Jon. Born in Atlanta, the rapper and producer is credited with pioneering the crunk genre. Defined as an energetic, cluboriented subgenre of Southern hiphop, crunk exploded into the mainstream when Lil Jon released Get Low' and later the iconic Turn Down for What'. You might also recognise him from the global hit Yeah!' by Usher, which he performed live alongside Usher at the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show. The blend of hard rap and EDM propelled Lil Jon into householdname status, helping define and shape rap and dance music for an entire generation.
